Food Styling & Photography
One of my accidentally discovered hobby since moving to Christchurch is cooking and baking. The kitchen has never been my work station before. Back in Singapore, making a cup of tea or a bowl of instant noodle are the two I did most in the kitchen. Afterall, eating out is very convenient in Singapore and it is much cheaper considering just having the two of us. While eating out is expensive in New Zealand, and with the limited selection of food (how could you do this to someone who LOVE food!), I decided to learn how to cook, and that remarks the beginning of my kitchen journey.
Through experimenting new recipes every other day (Thanks Google!), my huge interest with food presentation also grows serendipitously. I started to plan ahead how my food should look like and it became a part of my cooking process. I love playing with textures, shapes, and colours to garnish my plate. Afterall, an attractive plate makes for a tastier dinner. This is also what leads me to learn techniques for food photography, so that I can capture them beautifully and share with my family, friends, and of course, I think they look better on instagram than my selfie shot XD.
